SENNHEISER HD 580 JUBILEE

Made in 1995, these are number 3279 of the 4000 limited run.

Made in observance of Sennheiser 50 years (jubilee) in precision headphone industry.

Complete in original JUBILEE hard custom presentation and storage case. The foam within the case is immaculate and show no sign of wear, as these were always well cared for.

The headphone “bails”, where the headphone cable plugs into each side of the headphones themselves, has been updated by Sennheiser in 1996. These were known to be loose during original manufacture, but have been upgraded in US service facility. The cable is therefore NEW ORIGINAL UPDATE, indistinguishable from the shipped original.

The cable is a 10 foot long, stereo 1/8” mini, with 1/4” full size custom plug adapter that fits up into the mini-plug at the connector’s end. TRS UNBALANCED STOCK CONFIGURATION.

The foam pads that sit against the headphone elements, and the ear cushions themselves, have since been replaced—-and there is an EXTRA replacement set included as well. The presentation is first rate condition.

The HD 580 JUBILEE HEADPHONES themselves, simply flawless sonically, operationally, and cosmetically. No damage or anomalies of any sort. They have had many hours of audiophile listening over the years, and still operate as pristine.

At rated 300 ohm load, they are somewhat high impedance, so while they’ll operate plugged directly into even a mobile device, you’ll get more sonic excellence from larger stereo gear, or a DAC that can “drive them”.

Their sonic signature is relatively flat, though they are not the most articulate or detailed, there is a slight sonic designed dip in the lower treble region. So they’re easy listening for long sessions, if not a bit soft in high end detail.

All items shown, presentation box, headphones complete with cable and adapter, paperwork, certificate, ear pad extra sets, all included in auction.
