Description: Striking and highly detailed fine unusual 1760 copper engraved so-called optical view of a lake and a village of Vietnam. Several inhabitants and several sailing ships adorn the view.
The Vues d'optique were specifically developed to provide the illusion of depth when viewed through a zograscope, also known as an "optical diagonal machine" or viewers with similar functions.

Condition: Very strong and da rk impression on good paper. Paper with chains. Plate old original colored. Wide margins. Small foxing and browning. Small marginal tears. Conditions are as you can see in the images.
Publishers: Jean Francois Daumont was an engraver and publisher active in Paris between 1740 and 1775.
