On the reverse of the 2018 2 oz Australian Mother & Baby Koala Silver Coin is the design of a mother koala as it climbs along a tree branch in a eucalyptus tree. The mother koala has a young joey on its back, with an engraving of the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark on this side.
The obverse of all 2018 Australian Mother & Baby Koala Silver Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In this depiction created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, the Royal Mint of England issued the fourth-generation design used on British coinage through the 2015 issue of British coins. It continues in use on commonwealth coinage throughout the world though.
