Description

KONICA S3
This model was a minor change from the Konica S released in September 1959. The Konica S was released with a completely new body style, a built-in exposure meter on the top surface, and a significant cost reduction. The S II was based on the Konica S, and the S III was released with a 47mm f/1.9 lens instead of the 48mm f/2 lens of the S and S II, minor design changes, and further cost reductions. The S and S II had a plastic frame around the selenium and viewfinder, but this model has a metal frame around the selenium only and no frame around the viewfinder. The unique Konica viewfinder, which corrects the angle of view as well as parallax in conjunction with focusing, was of course inherited in this model.
This camera is a very orthodox manual exposure camera. The method of obtaining the correct exposure is the zero method, in which the aperture or shutter speed ring is turned while the meter hand on the top or viewfinder is centered.
