Description: Striking and highly detailed fine unusual copper engraved Napoleonic Wars Map. Covers Estonia, Lithuania, northeastern Poland and part of Russsia. The map is filled with excellent topographic details on cities, towns, villages, roads, rivers, lakes and islands. A framstyle title, topographic key & mileage scale cartouche adorns the map.

Condition: Very strong and dark impression on good paper. Map old original colored. Margin to the top cut shortly. Wide lower margin. Right lateral margin missing. Wide left lateral margin. Small foxing and browning. Small holes. Map folded. Conditions are as you can see in the images.
Mapmaker: Leonard Borejko Chodźko (1800–1871) was a Polish historian, geographer, cartographer, publisher, archivist, and activist of Poland's post-November-1830-Uprising Great Emigration.
Chodźko was educated at the University of Vilnius, where he was a member of the Philomaths, a secret organization established in 1816 by Vilnius University students including Adam Mickiewicz, Tomasz Zan and Józef Jeżowski.
From 1826 he lived in Paris. During France's July 1830 Revolution, he served as aide-de-camp to General La Fayette.
