This is a Spice Girls Spiceworld Tour, 26 year old autograph. It came from a security employee at Madison Square Gardens that I bought items from when he made them available.
Prior to a performance artists would send autographed stills, sometimes in press kits to the venue in advance to avoid a hassle of the performers signing for the staff. The security employee told me 25 were provided and were divided amongst the execs/management.My security contact got two given to him by an upper management person. I got those two from him before the actual show in early 1998. I sold one on ebay in 1999
Another interesting fact is that Ginger quit the group in May just prior to the July performance, This would be one of the last autographed tour photos signed by all 5 girls for the tour. I am sure the security guy would have charged me more if I had it after May. :-)
Having two I knew that it was not autopen signings because the signatures had tiny variations, in location of the signatures and the the signatures themselves. I have seen a lot of autopen signatures over the last 44 years
Another thing that validates this signed still is that it is printed on AGFA Professional Photo paper with copyright statement on the back. Regular chaser autographs done by professional autograph chasers are normally on reproduced photos and not the copyrighted photos provided by the entertainer. I tried to scan and take photos of ther back but could not get it to work because the writing on the back, my scanner, and my camera said NO! I guess because the writing is so light.
I says "Professional AFGA" and then a symbol. The even finer writing says in English and French " PERMISSION TO REPRODUCE IS REQUIRED IF COPYRIGHT APPLIES"
I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF BAD AUTOGRAPHS WITH COAs THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS ONE WAS AT A HUGE CAR AUCTION IN CALIF. AN AUTOGRAPH BY STEVE McQUEEN ON A RETAIL POSTER SOLD FOR SOMETHING LIKE $16,000. I CALLED THE AUCTIONEERING COMPANY AND TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE THAT STEVE SIGNED IT, THE POSTER WASN'T MADE UNTIL AFTER HE DIED. THEY TOLD ME, "IT CAME WITH A COA" :-)
I DO NOT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY TO SEND IT OFF AND GET A COA. MY DESCRIPTION, MY 44 YEARS IN BUSINESS IS MY CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. PLEASE COMPARE IT TO OTHER SIGNATURES, BE YOUR OWN JUDGE ON MY HONESTY, ONLY BUY IT IF YOU ARE SATISFIED THAT IT IS ORIGINAL. IT WAS SIGNED IN 1998, THE SIGNATURES ARE HOW THE GIRLD SIGNED THEN, NOT THE NEWER VERSION
