1882 2 1/2d Plate 23 GF British Army Post Office in Egypt en route Malta to Alexandria to Abergele Wales Fine Contents Rare
A good used SG 157 2 1/2d Blue from Plate 23 lettered GF, small faults, cancelled fine and scarce BRITISH ARMY POST OFFICE EGYPT 25 August 1882 '100 miles W of Alexandria' and en route to the campaign against Arabi Pasha that month, from Captain Arthur (later Major General) Sandbach (this being his first campaign), written to his father Henry at Hafodunos Hall in Abergele with Rhyl backstamp. Excellent contents about life on board and en route. Fine TPO cancel. Usual small cover faults. Very scarce.
