2oz, 2 1/4" tall glass in GOOD condition. Please look closely at all photos for an accurate understanding of condition. George Truog owned and operated the Maryland Glass Etching Works in Cumberland from 1893-1911. During this time the company produced etched glass artwork for many customers, including the popular complimentary shot glasses whiskey distillers and liquor dealers would give out with orders of their product. George Truog, himself, designed many of the labels for both liquor houses and novelty designs Maryland Glass distributed on their own. This "Eye Opener" shot glass is a well known Truog design. In fact, he made several different versions of this label with different eye illustrations and varying amounts of details to the designs. Collecting Truog pieces has become a well defined subset for pre-pro whiskey shot glass collectors. This example is in GOOD condition, overall. The etching is bold and not worn, and the glass is very clear, but there are some fleabites around the rim and 2 spots where small flakes of glass have come off the inner lip. I believe the rim was ground down to eliminate chips and the spots we see are what remains from that initial damage. Regardless of that, the glass is very displayable with a clean and bold strike on the label. These old shot glasses are perfect for display or occasional use.
