Anaheim, California was founded in 1857 by 50 German families. The city was incorporated in 1876 as the second city in Los Angeles County. Anaheim was the first city in Orange County and is now the largest city in the county. 

Anaheim was originally an agricultural community. The Santa Fe depot was built in 1887, which connected Anaheim's citrus growers to the East and provided markets for their crops. Anaheim became the center of California's wine industry, but a blight in the 1880s wiped out the vineyards.

Some Trivia:

In 1954, Walt Disney purchased the Dominguez family's orange grove in Anaheim, California for $17 million. 

The Dominguez family had planted one particular palm tree in 1896. Ron Dominguez, the grandson of the Dominguez family, sold the property to Disney to build Disneyland. The Dominguez family left the palm tree standing as a tribute. Disney built Disneyland around the palm tree, including Adventureland and New Orleans Square.
