The elderly lady that I acquired it from received it as a gift from her father in the early 1950s, who worked at the museum when she was a child. The sturdy cottage is constructed almost entirely of wood and painted pale yellow with green trim, and includes five rooms; a living room/parlor, a kitchen, a little boy's bedroom and their parents' bedroom, and a bathroom. There is also a roomy attic with dormer window. The classic cottage porch has a porch swing, wicker set, rocker and various other "outdoor" items. The living room features wonderful mission/arts & crafts furnishings including sofa and chair, a real stone fireplace with logs, two china cabinets, a roll-top desk with chair, a secretary with books, a mission dining set with matching buffet and a grandfather clock. Green draperies adorn the glass windows and a mission-style rug covers the hardwood floor. The kitchen features a wonderful classic Delft motif, with ivory furnishings including a table, hoosier cabinet, porcelain sink, a Roper stove and a GE monitor-top fridge, as well as a wringer washer and tub and ironing board and endless dishes, cups, pans and other kitchen utensils, including a waffle iron as well as many cleaning supplies and food packages, cans, boxes, etc. The parents' bedroom showcases a sturdy iron bed with real patchwork quilt, a beautiful large Persian rug, a treadle sewing machine, a bureau with mirror and lady's vanity items, a combination dresser/armoire with trunk and an upright vacuum cleaner. Cafe-style swinging doors separate the kitchen from the parents' bedroom. The boy's bedroom sports twin iron beds with cowboy-motif bedspreads, a mirrored armoire and a chest of drawers, as well as a cowboy-western rug and pictures of horses. The bathroom has the classic claw-foot tub, water closet, sink and many bathroom accessories of the period. The attic contains old trunks and an extra iron bed for a guest. The house measures 33" wide, 34" in length and 30" high. All of the furnishings are 1:12 in scale. In addition to the house itself is included a 21" x 21" x 19" stand that is made to represent a fenced-in yard with picket fence, which includes Adirondack furniture, a real stone pond, a trellis with flowers, a birdbath, an opening gate and a mailbox. The entire house is electrified, including the attic. I will happily provide additional photos of any part of the house upon request; I have many more that show more detail but simply wouldn't fit in the space allowed by eBay. Ask any questions and I'll try to answer them, although I'm no dollhouse expert by any means. This is a one-of-a-kind handmade masterpiece of Americana that will be the pinnacle of your miniature collection!
