This lot consists of 11 Seminole Tribal Women dolls with simply stitched eyes and mouths that vary in size from approximately 3" to 8" tall from their bases to the tips of their black cloth hats (hair).  They are constructed from palmetto fiber husk stuffed with cotton and wrapped in colorful garments detailed with patchwork, stitched cotton tiers of color, and beaded jewelry at their necklines.  Two of the dolls wear beaded earrings.  The dolls that wear clothing devoid of rick-rack, are the older dolls, I believe.  I am not sure of their age, though.  Possibly from the 1950s-on, and possibly earlier--  The dolls sustain varying degrees of soil, wear, fading, staining, and deterioration to themselves and to their clothing. Thinning to their palmetto fiber stump bodies also vary.  In spite of their flaws Seminole Women in Tribal dress are engaging examples of the cultural dolls handmade by the Seminole Indians in Florida.  They authentically portray the dress and hairstyling of women belonging to this culture.  Included with the Seminole dolls are a 2 1/4" papoose (including tab) and a 1 1/2" beaded fetish doll missing its "claw" feature.  The dolls smell dusty.  The dolls are being sold "as is" and "with all faults."
