All 264 cards in the 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee hockey set are here, including the ROOKIE CARDS of Brad Park (#67), Gilbert Perreault (#131), Bobby Clarke (#195) and Darryl Sittler (#218). Six (6) different cards of Bobby Orr, multiples of Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Phil and Tony Esposito plus many other stars are also highlights of this classic vintage set.
CONDITION:
The majority of the cards in this set are lower grade. This is mostly due to varying degrees of creasing and/or noticeably soft corners. Other caveats of age include a small amount have writing on back including #11 Esposito, #14 Dennis Hull, #111 Selby, #132 Checklist. Most of the backs are clean but some intermittent discrepancies include #231 Sawchuk,#244 Giacomin AS (paper loss), 253 Martin TW (tape). Card #200 Binkley has some paper loss on front (isolated to lower right, image and most of text are still clear). Tape marks on front affect #233 "Esposito Line" and #236 Orr All-Star, etc.
While not trying to downplay condition, some lower grade cards retain better eye appeal than others! Case in point, #218 Darryl Sittler RC has VG corner wise but retains a clean/clear image with strong colors and plenty of gloss. Card #235 Bobby Hull All-Star has the scarce full black front variation (no white border). This cards shows a crease across the upper left but some would still call the corners VG (clear image). Other "key cards" that retain better eye appeal in person than on screen include #153 Tony Esposito (nick along top border but image is clear with strong VG/EX corners), #175 Mickey Redmond ("no trade") #237 Phil Esposito AS, #249 Orr Art Ross Trophy. While #131 Perreault RC is typically miscut, shows a number of "factory creases" (clearly visible but still light to a degree) and wax stains on front, the latter flaws would be less noticeable in plastic sheets/rigid holder. The top corners are soft but the bottom corners are VG to VG/EX with some original gloss still present.
