Adolf Stieler (1775-1836) was a German cartographer and lawyer who worked in the Justus Perthes Geographical Institute in Gotha, Germany. First published in 1816, Stieler's Hand-Atlas was considered to be the leading German world atlas until the middle of the 20th century.
