When you hear something as good as Farm's sole self-titled album release, you shudder to think about how many supremely bands never quite made it. Formed in 1969 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, they were absolutely a product of their time fusing blues and southern rock with psychedelic influences, and they manifested these different threads in stunning form on their five-track album. While its modest in stature, Farm is a substantial trip to take, with the first two tracks clocking in long form with plenty of space for squalling solos and tangential composition swerves, but all rooted in the earth and traditional songwriting. An essential reissue which won't hang around for long.
