Darragh Aldrich (December 31, 1884-March 31, 1967) was born in Richmond, Montana as Clara Chapline Thomas Aldrich. She began writing at a young age, finishing her first story at eight years old. She attended the University of Minnesota and received her B.A. in 1900. While at university, she edited the U of M’s paper, The Gopher. After graduation, Aldrich taught at St. Mary’s Hall in Faribault, Minnesota for three years. She worked for the Minneapolis Tribune from 1906-1915 and as a radio announcer for WCCO from 1941-1956.

While working for the Minneapolis Tribute, Aldrich wrote a column called “Quentin’s Corner.” The National Humorist’s Society enjoyed it so much, they admitted Aldrich into the society, thinking that she was a man. When they found out she was a woman, Aldrich was forced to resign. As well as writing a column, Aldrich also wrote novels, short stories, and plays. Her novel Enchanted Hearts was adapted for Broadway by George M. Cohan under the title A Prince There Was, and a movie was made in 1921.
