Interesting provanance. This exquisite hand-carved in Somalia jewelry box is a stunning example of African style craftsmanship. With its inlaid brass and floral pattern, it would make a unique addition to any collection. The florals subject adds to its charm, making it suitable for jewelry or other small trinkets. The box is made of wood and brass, measures 12" x 6" ,4 inches in height, and weighs 6 pounds. The box has a key lock, although the key is missing. It is an original piece from Somalia, made between 1900-1950, and comes with provenance from Jack Aho (who purchased it at a benefit for UNICEF), in 1976.  It was donated by Al-Ahram Advertising in Cairo. (company is the flagship newspaper publisher in Egypt). This handmade box is perfect for those who appreciate fine craftsmanship and unique design. I am not sure when the box was made. Interesting history is on the bottom of box as found. The jewel box has key missing, and the mirror is not in good condition. Box is solid nice overall. Super-size to see well and e-me questions. International sales need confirmed address.
