FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE....!
Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a family with ties to Germany.
Old porcelain figurine of a young boy dressed as Pierrot holding a bouquet of flowers.
Bears the makers mark for the Hertwig Katzhutte maker, Thuringia Germany.
The blue "CAT" back stamp was used from 1914 to 1945. I believe the Pierrot figures, of which there are several various designs and finishes, was from a line introduced in the mid 1930s.
It measures 5 3/4 inches tall and has survived prior ownership and decades on display free of chips, cracks or repairs.
The blue and gold hand painted details are still intact.
I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size.
MUCH OBLIGED
