John studied painting directly under Carl Barks in the 1980s after Carl retired to Grants Pass, Oregon, a few miles from where John grew up. John visited the studio of Carl and Gare Barks many times, seeing new paintings, learning techniques, and having his own early paintings critiqued by the master duck man. John has published two books on Carl Barks, including one on how to paint in Carl's style. A Barks fan and artist for many years, John has also drawn several covers for The Barks Collector. He is the writer and director of the multi-million selling Days Gone for PlayStation and PC.
