The Tesla Roadster Power Electronics Module (PEM) is the heart of the car. As these cars age since production started in 2007, a well documented PEM failure point affects these vehicles and a number of age-related engineering defects are coming to light.

INSULATING MATERIAL (level 1)
The Insulating material that provides a thermal conduit for the IGBT Power Transistors to the aluminum cooling heat sinks is deteriorating and crumbling. As the integrity of this insulating barrier decomposes, eventual shorting of these power components occurs causing component failure and potential damage to the driver boards.

Gruber Power Services specializes in Tesla Roadster repairs and aftermarket products. We replace this failing material with a higher grade product, repair and replace damaged and failed components.

COOLING FAN CONNECTOR (level 1)
The PEM cooling fan connector is somewhat undersized for worst-case application, but the major failure occurs from predictable and recommended yearly PEM cleaning when the connectors are plugged and unplugged. The 90-degree connector pins deflect and regress into the socket housing reducing the amperage handling capacity, which eventually burns up the socket. We replace this socket and modify the pin housing so no regression is possible.

OPTIMUM SOLUTION (level 2)
In addition to the aforementioned items, we also offer a full re-manufacturing option for this critical vehicle component, replacing all known and predictable electronic wear items such as, internal PEM cooling fan, mega-pole relays, switches, fuses, and capacitors, a process much like a full engine overhaul in an internal combustion engine to rejuvenate the lifespan of this vital Roadster sub-assembly.

If the car cannot be delivered to our Phoenix Arizona Service Center, we provide detailed PEM removal instructions and phone support. We also offer free to and from shipping in the continental USA and will pre-ship a foam protected box for transport to our facility.

Turnaround time is typically one week for a repair, and three weeks for the full PEM upgrade.

Please see the eBay Shipping tab to calculate rates. The normal shipping and handling rate for items weighing under 140lb are quoted UPS Ground or FedEx to the 48 continental United States. Smaller individual UPS and accessories are foam packaged and shipped only through UPS or FedEx in the continental US. "Will calls" need verbal confirmation. Canadian orders do not include brokerage fees. For international customers, special shipping conditions are available.

For large items or orders weighing over 100lbs, please contact us for a freight estimate to save you in shipping costs. Our standard shipping method is specialty carriers using air-ride trucks for critical computer equipment and components. These air ride equipped vehicles to absorb much more road vibration than coil or leaf springs protecting your equipment. For international customers, special shipping conditions are available.

We accept VISA/MC/AMEX/DISCOVER and payments by PayPal. Buyer pays shipping charges. Shipping charges are not refundable. Arizona residents please add sales tax. Payment must be received within 7 days of the end of the auction.

Return Policy

Within 14 days of receiving the item, please call Gruber Power Services for a refund. Depending on the reason, unit, or amount of days, a refund may be given in the form of money back or item exchange.
