The winner of the auction will join Gov. Bevin and state and local officials onstage during pre-implosion festivities on Sunday, March 11, and will push the ceremonial plunger that signals the start of the controlled demolition at 1:30 p.m. (EST) that day. The winner will also receive two complimentary tickets to attend a luncheon prior to the implosion hosted by the #WeAreKY! Foundation.

The auction will run through Saturday, March 10, at 5:00 p.m. (EST). The winning bidder will be notified Saturday, March 10 following the auction's end.

Opened in 1972, the 28-story Capital Plaza Tower housed various state offices until its final tenants departed in October 2016. Rising some 330 feet above Mero Street, the tower is currently the tallest building in the Commonwealth outside of Louisville and Lexington.
