Compudata "Excumate" (Circa 1985) Sharp Pocket Computer Model PC-1500A. Welcome to my listing for my very rare, fully working, Compudata "Excumate" /Sharp PC-1500A pocket computer in amazing condition for a computer that is over 36 years old! What sets this unit apart from any standard PC-1500A is the custom ROM and keyboard overlay added by Compudata back in 1985. Complete with original protective carry case, this unit was probably supplied as a custom unit for vehicle management. On running, the working custom software requests data appearing to relate to vehicle information. I have a short video showing the inital boot up operation, I just enter random data as I am not really sure what it is looking for. The ROM can be unplugged from the PC-1500A, as shown in the pictures, and will function as a perfectly standard unit. To be clear this PC-1500A is not locked as a Computdata"Excumate" unit only, any PC-1500A software can be used on this device! A Brief History of the PC-1500 (abridged from Wikipedia) The Sharp PC-1500 was a pocket computer produced by Sharp during 1981-1985. A rebadged version was also sold as the TRS-80 Pocket Computer PC-2. The whole computer was designed around the LH5801, an 8-bit CPU similar to the Zilog Z80, but all laid-out in power-saving CMOS circuits. Equipped with 2KB (8K for the 1500A) of on-board RAM, the programming language is BASIC. Later German engineers provided an assembler for the machine.Later even a C compiler followed. This Compudata "Execumate" PC-1500A is in amazing fully working condition. All keys are fully functioning and have unmarked graphics. Overall the unit is in amazing condition, the Aluminium bezel has some VERY faint "spider scratches", these are almost impossible to photograph, but I felt it worth mentioning. The LCD screen is clear, with all pixels/digits and icons functioning correctly. The lower plastic case is good remarkable condition, with all screws present and correct, with no marks or scratches present. The Battery and RAM covers are present and in great condition, complete with original screw and RAM leaflet! The Battery terminals are free from corrosion and work without problem. The included leather-style case is clean with no rips or tears and has a fully functioning zip. The pictures clearly show the amazing condition this Compudata "Execumate" PC-1500A is in; please study them carefully, this forms part of the item description.
