FILTER STARTER (& BOOSTER) ESSENTIAL BACTERIA BIODEGRADEABLE GEL BALLS WHICH CAN EITHER BE USED IN MOVING BED FILTERS OR STATIC STANDARD AQUARIUM FILTERS (check my other items for marine gel filter balls) WHY USE THEM? Filter bacteria are essential in any filter (aquarium or pond) as they break down toxic ammonia and nitrite ensuring a safe environment for fish and other aquatic organisms In new systems and after thorough filter cleaning the population of filter bacteria may be very low or not present at all - these will seed the filter with live useful bacteria, ensuring that pollution is processed quickly, resulting in healthier water (and happier fish) WHEN TO USE In a new aquarium, add to the filter to rapidly establish with beneficial bacteria and ensure safe introduction of first fish (after a week of running filter) After replacing filter foams or deep cleaning of filter Regularly to ensure maximum performance of filter and great water clarity DOSAGE Use one 1 per 25 litres of water but you can't overdose with them - they dissolve as needed Simply add to the filter media For moving bed filters add 4-5 balls per litre of media - they will move within the moving bed as they have neutral buoyancy They'll last a long time - simply replace as they slowly dissolve *Make sure the balls are added to the filter, not to the tank if fish are of a suitable size to eat them. They are inert but could possibly choke a fish if ball gets stuck in throat. Although other sellers are claiming to be the 'cheapest on ebay' please consider that they are only selling 60g of the same balls - that is the bare minimum of '100+ balls'. |
