This is the 46" Black Nagamaki Samurai Long Sword. It is a rarely seen sword type. The nagamaki was used by extremely strong infantry and foot soldiers for use against mounted cavalry riders. With a long blade and extremely long handle, this sword could generate enough force to cut through heavy targets with ease.The blade is hand forged carbon steel with a full length bohi. The handle is wrapped with black ito over real black samegawa. There are two antiqued menuki total and the fuchi and kashira are made of alloy steel. The saya scabbard is sparkle matt black.The nakago or tang extends through most of the handle. This is a fully functional nagamaki and can be used to cut light, medium, targets.
