1907 Antique Print

Large Double Folio Size

You are bidding on an extra-large original antique print from an early 1900s French newspaper. It shows a brave photographer taking pictures of alligators with an early hand-held camera. Included is a separate page that has his final photograph and a 24-inch article in French. The copyright is H. G. Ponting (Herbert Pointing) of Calcutta India, so I am guessing that may be the photographer himself.

The page measures approximately 22 x 15.5 inches (55.5 x 39cm). It has one vertical fold through the middle, where it was bound into the original journal over 100 years ago. The printing has a slight blue cast to it (original to the print and very hadsome). The fold lines are clean without any darkening. The print has four holes along the fold line that are from the original binding process. There is text on the back of these pages, but it does not show through the rich paper.

The page is in excellent condition for its age. Back then, the paper was high quality and the print and illustrations are crisp. Based on the date, it is probably the rotogravure printing technique.

This is NOT a recent copy or modern reproduction, but a GENUINE antique item.

All prints are delivered in an archival sleeve and rolled in a sturdy tube. I stand behind my products and offer a FULL REFUND if you think the product does not match the description in any way.

I will combine shipping on multiple purchases (charging only the single highest shipping cost on US and Canada shipments; and reduced overall cost to other countries).

This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
